I am trying to figure out how to set up a GFS backup rotation with Back Exec. I noticed it has a Wizard but it wants to force me to do a Differential or Incremental backup for a GFS. I know I could just have it do a Full backup every day but... I'd rather have 3 pools, one for daily, one for weekly and one for "monthly" (every forth week). I figure it will not track and tell me what tape to put in what day so I'll have to do that.
Ok onward we go.
I figure with three jobs I should be able to do this.
Job 1:
Full backup every M-Th.
Job 2:
Full backup Repeat on Fridays
Job 3:
Repeat every 4 weeks on Friday
The question I have is, will it do both Friday backups or just the one for every 4 weeks? Or, is there a better way or a some sort of plug in to simplify this. Even a program that tracks this sort of thing would be nice.
Any help would be appreciated.
