GFS Differential Backup - Dates

Hi everyone,

I gots me a problem.

I've switched from 5-day GFS full backups to 5-day GFS differential with full backup on Fridays. The job uses a media pool.

The problem with the new setting is that ArcServe seems to be confused about what the last day of the month is. Instaed of labelling the last working day of the month as the MOnthly (full) backup, it thinks the monthly backup should be on the last Friday of the month (which could be a any day before 30/31st). So, instead of a full backup on 31st night, I got a differential backup, labelled Daily.
I did ensure that the Calendar setting showed the backup type set as Full for the 31st night.

If anyone out there can tell me how to get the GFS working(aside from setting the job type manually), I would love to hear about it.

That's ARCserves proper behaviour - the last GFS full backup of the month will be a monthly. If you change your scheme to full backups on Monday's then the last Monday of the Month will be a Monthly.

It could get quite ugly to force ARCserve to do it your way - either use a custom scheme and modify it each time you want a full or monthly - or - use a rotation scheme (without GFS selected) creating three jobs - one for each pool - and manually modify the calendars to run the jobs on specific dates.
