I am having a problem while viewing video files (*.avi) on my PC. Whenever I watch a video file (avi's encoded with DivX and XviD) after a while, the video will freeze, but the audio will continue. After 10 seconds or so, the video will unfreeze, and speed up until it catches up with the audio, at which point it is in synch again. This happens in all players I have tried, and at no specific point in any file. My system specs are below:

AMD Athlon 750 MHz
some Asus motherboard
640 MB SDRAM
MSI geforce4 MX 440 64MB DDR w tv-out

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Forgot to mention I am running Windows XP SP1.

Is that a classic Athlon CPU?

My first guess would be that the card is too new for the motherboard and you are not holding proper voltage to the AGP slot or maybe your powersupply is not sufficient.

I had a similar problem initially when I put a TI4600 into my K7V motherboard, but I did a quick fix and it stopped it from locking up.

Lemme know any other details you can provide and I'll see what I can suggest.
