GFI LANguard problem.

Our IT dept is messing with gfi languard to see if we want to buy it. It seems like a great tool but we are having problems with the office xp patches. it doesnt seem to even detect if they are needed and when I attempt to install them I cant tell if it did it unless I walk over the the PC and check myself.
Just wondering if anyone else has seen this.
We dont have any cash to purchase Microsoft SMS and the automatic update doesnt seem to be working.
