GF2 Ultra st-stuttering

Just got a GF2 Ultra. I have installed it but when I play games, the games stutter and then carry on.

I am running the most recent drivers (30.82). Any ideas?

System:
Abit KG7R with XP1600+ and 512mb
Win ME (stop laughing)

Stuttering happened on recent game (Medal of Honour) and old game (Viper Racing - '97ish)

I think the problem has "gone away".

I stopped all services that were running in the background (h/w monitor, AV, download clients, s/w firewall, etc.), and had to delete all dial-up-networking files (something was insisting on making a connection for some reason?).

In my short game after that I experienced no problems.

Didn't have to disable all these progs with my old graphics card (Matrox G400) - I presume the higher spec card takes more processor resources?
