My friend and i have just started our own consulting firm. Ill try to keep it short and to the point. We both have full time jobs. He is a web developer and i am a systems manager. I managed to get 2 clients through relatives that need their office systems setup. But in terms of getting new clients, we thought about using craigslist and trying to pick up freelance web development jobs to get ourselves started. I believe that web development can be done remotely once we get ALL the project details on paper and keep in constant communiucation with the client in question.

What do you all think of this?

Just an idea of how to advertise yourself but why not get the web person to create a web site for your business. Not only does it get the name out there but also gives someone the first view of something you have done and can do again.

yes...we will have a website in place when we go with this idea full steam.

Talk radio is great for free advertising. Whenever someone has a need, give something away in the name of the company. If you can make it good enough, your name will be used over and over. Don't try and give out something unless it will truly help someone, the public will see it as cheap. Plus, it will make you feel good and truly help someone. Good luck.
