Below is the backup error message. Wondering if OFA will help solve this problem or Agent for MS SQL will help? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks ahead.

If you wanna backup SQL properly - use the SQL agent. Backing up via OFA may work, but personally I wouldn't recommend it.

There are 4 ways to resolve this:

1. stop the MSSQL server processes with a script, run the backup and restart them.

2. use OFA, but (as vschumpy already mentioned) it is not recommended.

3. use SQL's built-in backup utility to backup dump files (*.BAK) to disk. Backup the *.BAK files with ARCserve and filter out the skipped files.

4. use the MSSQL agent

with Windows 2003 server there is a fifth method : VSS
