getting variables to movie clips 1

I posted a similar Q. a few days ago, no response, so I thought I'd include an example this time - hope someone can assist - I'm sure it is a bone-head problem on my part. thx

I am trying to get a variable to display on the Root movie level AND in a Movie Clip with one call to load the variable. I can get data in the root but not in the clip.???

Here is the example:

As you can see the variable text shows up fine in the static (root level) box, but doesn't show in the moving (movie clip). - the text boxes are actually the same symbol in the library.

Don't know what your variable name is because I don't have a copy of Flash on this PC but this is probably just a pth problem. Set the variable name in your moving text box to:

_root.yourVariableName;
