What would be the best way to get users who visit a site to post their own word/excel/other docs to the site for sharing with the rest of the website's community?

I basically need an interface that will ask for a username and password to login, once they are logged in, users will be able to post content onto the site for other users to read and look at.

Any help is appreciated.

You could look at a CMS Content Management System - instead of putting up word docs, they can put web content up directly.

There's a bunch of free ones: gives you a good listing.

I can recommend CMS Made Simple ( having implemented it for a client, written some custom plugins, and contributed to what seems like an active development community.
I found it to be simple to implement, simple to extend, and accommodating of web standards.
