I am trying to get TAPI to work with Altigen phone server. I don't think it's a phone server issue, because we used to have it working (albeit an earlier versions) years ago, but since then we have upgrade both servers and desktops, and now I can't get to work on the desktops. I think it is either a Windows issue (tried it both on 2000 and XP) or a hardware problem. When I am trying the phone dialer (under accessories, communications), I am getting this "can't detect any sound or video lines". The TAPI Proxy service is running our phone server.

I am thinking that this is some bug in Windows or the modem that is installed doesn't support TAPI (even though the modem is not used, it seems that you need a modem to install TAPI client services).

We are using TAPI in our environment interfacing with a Nortel PBX (option 61) It works great. I know this doesn't answer your question.

What TAPI vendor/product are you using? Does your phone vendor have a tapi server that interfaces the phone switch and your data network?

You may need to initialize a key in your phone vendor config. Then, try the dialer that comes with NT Workstation 4.0. I know, don't laugh:) But we found it is much more stable than the flaky sh-t that comes with w2k or xp. Good luck.
