I reformatted & reinstalled win98 SE on pc. Now at bootup, before 98 loads, it gives me a 98 startup menu. Wants to know if I want CD rom support or not. How do I get rid of this? Have checked in sysedit, can not remember. TIA!!
You may have an autoexec.bat and config.sys in the root of your drive c: that is being called. May be *.w40 if you are in dos to correct it. This may be using the menu items in the config, then using the choice from config to choose the drivers in autoexec.
If this is what you have then remove anything in the file related to cd driver choices.

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply.
Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.
Try running msconfig.
Click on the General tab then on the advance button this will open the "advanced troubleshooting settings" box there is a tick box wich enable/disable the startup menu.
Edit the MSDOS.SYS file in the root C: of your system.
Look for the lines that say:
BootMenu=
BootMenuDefault=
Make sure there's a 0 in the first one, and a 1 in the second one, so it looks like this:
BootMenu=0
BootMenuDefault=1
Save it, restart. Cheers,
Jim
