I'm an ASP.NET developer and I'm looking to get fluent in Java.
I have a few questions please:
Where do I start?
What version?

I built a number of web applications here at work.

Here's what I'm looking for. A way to add in a nicer application experience to my intranet apps here at work, so it will need to run in a web environment.

Does the end user need to download anything to run my application?

Thanks for any and all help.

Well, I'd start with a tutorial to take a look at the basic concepts.

And no, when you build a web application the only thing the end user needs is a browser.

Cheers,
Dian

The tutorial I can handle. I just wanted to be sure that the end user needed nothing special loaded on their machine.

.NET doesn't give the user a nice front as I wanted.

Thanks
