Hello All
I work with Meridians mainly with the odd job on Definity switches, and I am keen to learn about writing my own scripts, and understanding them better can anybody point me to a site or recommend a book for me to read,,it needs to be at a beginers level..in am in th UK....
Thanks

Colin

Colin,

There's not any Books available. Your best shot is the Help File in Procomm Plus 4.8. There was an Aspect Manual that came with Procomm 2.3 which was basically a Paper Copy of the Help File. Also the very Little to Offer. This Forum is the only one around.

If you need some Examples to get started, you can drop me an E-mail and I'll be glad to send you some.

I would highly recommend going through the section of the script help files called "Aspect Scripts - A Brief Tutorial". It is a great way to start and will give you lots of hands on exercises. After you have finished that, look at the examples in the script reference as you need them.

There used to be a support forum when Quarterdeck owned Procomm, and then there was newsgroup on DejaNews that did not get much participation. Hank is correct, for any additional help, you've found your home here... Robert Harris

As far as ASPECT books go, the only one I'm aware of is a printing of the ASPECT help file that Quarterdeck printed at some point before being acquired by Symantec. I don't believe I've ever seen this available from anyone other than Quarterdeck (I know that Symantec never offered the book for sale). If you are interested in trying to track down a used copy, the book is white, called "ASPECT Script User's Guide" and does not have an ISBN that I could find. What I believe is a part number of 51PCW451X899US is on the bottom of the back cover.

There is a Procom forum run by Symantec, you can find it here:

However, they do not provide ASPECT support via that forum, although myself and one or two other people chime in here and there.

I've been working on setting up an ASPECT information website ( but haven't had time to properly devote to it yet. I've heard a new baby will do that to you. About all I have done so far is set up a very low-volume mailing list, more low-volume after my hosting provider performed an upgrade and lost the subscriber list. I've been planning on adding some sample scripts, pointers to the few ASPECT resources on the web, and other similar information to the site, just haven't had the time.
