I'm looking for suggestions/recommendations on the

best way to get started using these tools. Perhaps

you could mention classes you took or books that

were helpful with learning these tools. I am an

experienced programmer...

Thank You:

I have been playing around in Access and know my

way around: As far as VBA goes; I'm a beginner.

I have been playing around in Access and know my way around:" There's some wizards of Access here at Tek-Tips. I, personally, wouldn't have such bravado. Example: all tables must be normalized. Explain the first normal form.

But, anyway, being I teach in college and thus bias, I would recommend some community college continuing education courses in Access. There usually one day (eight hours) long and you get a book.

An obvious one, look through the questions in each of the 7 or so Access forums here at Tek-tips. Especially the ones where there's code.

If possible, find someone who has done VBA programming and look at their code.

Get any basic Access book. Some titles Microsoft Access 2003 Visual Basic from Microsoft Press. Access Programming for Dummies. Access Bible.

Then make a good stiff drink, start with something small and hopefully simple. When it doesn't work, pick the correct forum, post the code and ask the Access lords nicely for help. From my experience, it just takes alot of research and asking questions about VBA because it is a language and it's up to the individual to create something with it.
