This is been happening more and more. I have to reboot 2 or 3 times to get the full desktop to show. What's going on? I have a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop with windows XP home.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Reload Windows...has it been imaged, like with Ghost or something?

What happens when you boot into Safe Mode (press F8 during boot)? Could be booting to sleep mode or the like. When you get it going in safe mode, right-click Desktop, Screen Saver, set to (None) and expand the time to max. Under Power/Advanced, disable all options to save power. Set all "Turn off my..." options to "Never". Disable hibernation. Reboot and see what happens.

If you can't get into Safe Mode the problem lies deeper.
