getting rid of the background 1

probably been asked a million times, how do I lift an object out of a phot to place it against a different background?

You can use one of the selections tools to select the object. Then you can copy and paste it into a new image or as a new image. I find the Lasso set to point to point with antialiase checked to be one of my favorite ways to select objects.
