hello,
i am putting together a catalog in id. for some reason when i import .psd files into id they look fine, but when i export them to .pdf they have these boxes around them. please note the picture:
example1.jpg

is there anyway to get rid of these boxes in id or do i have to do something to them first in photoshop? i have seen posts in the forums about turning on clipping paths but that still doesn't work for me when i finally export to .pdf.

thanks to anyone for helping out a n00b!

From the uneveness of the white border on the right side and bottom, this looks like a scan. If it is you should straighten in Photoshop and crop out the white.

Take a look at these in PS with the background set to transparent and see if the white shows up.

If you've applied a clipping path in PS, click on Show Import Options at bottom of the Place window (or hold down the shift key as you click on the pic file). Make sure that Apply Photoshop Clipping Mask is checked

One other thing, when esporting the PDF, you might try Setting Compatability to Acrobat 5. That will come up in the first window as soon as you hit save.
