Hello all:

The title of this thread says it all - I'd like to remove the toolbars from my MS Office 2003 applications. I am sure it's a registry key somewhere that activates the toolbars, but I am at a loss to find it.

There is no file in the Office/Startup folder

I disabled the "Speed Launcher" in the Startup folder to no avail.

I looked up "normal.dot" in Word, there is no Acrobat code there.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

A.

EDIT:

I found a key at:

HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\PDFMaker.OfficeAddin

I am assuming I would want to change the LoadBehavior. It's currently set to "3" (whatever that means).

I don't want to delete the key unless I can be sure that Acrobat (or Word) will remain stable if I do so.

Should I just set the LoadBehavior to "0"?

These buttons are added by macros stored in PDFMAKER.DOT and PDFMAKER.XLA. If you remove those files from the STARTUP and XLSTART folders (usually under C:\Program Files\Misrosoft Office\Office\) the buttons should go away.

You could also go view ->toolbars in each office app and uncheck the PDF Maker 7.0 toolbar. If you use file ->exit to close the app the PDF toolbar won't came back. It means clearing it in each individual app though.

Cheers.
