I have just started getting an annoying MSIE popup that keeps repeating about every 2 or 3 minutes trying to take me to "I have looked everywhere in my system startup files, deleted all my cookies, ran spybot, and removed several recently installed programs trying to get rid of whatever it is that keeps starting up Internet Explorer and going to that address. It's tried to go there three times since I started entering in this message...
Since I'm on on a LAN, I'm attached to the internet all the time and it just keeps trying to go there perpetually whenever I'm working whether I'm using MSIE or not. This thing is really starting to annoy me.
Anyone have a suggestion of how to purge my system of this spammer's curse?

Go to Start, Find, look for gamingclub.exe...
If found, remove it.

Also, go to Start, Run, type in regedit, OK. Once in regedit, go to Edit, Find and look for "gamingclub" or "gaming club," deleting these keys if and when found.

If you're not familiar with editing your registry, get someone involved who is. Also, make a backup before you start. Be sure that what you delete is what you want to delete...

OK - could it be using Windows Messenger?

For an arsenal against popups and the like, try faq608-3482.
Do try different anti-mal-ware programs...sometimes they catch things the other program missed.
The FAQ has instructions on de-activating Windows Messenger (activated by default on Win XP).

<marc> i wonder what will happen if i press this...[pc][ul][li]please give feedback on what works / what doesn't[/li][li]need some help? how to get a better answer: faq581-3339[/li][/ul]

Right...slow brain wave day.
Listen to manarth's advice on the Windows Messenger as a conduit for ads.
You're s.o.l., however, if you're running 9x, as Messenger cannot be disabled.
Ultimately, though, you're invariably getting these pop-ups due to something installed on your box or a cookie or key that's been set.
I'd still scour your registry for hits on the site name if all else fails. SpyWare eradication software is only as good as the latest update...

search C: for 'Casino*'
if found delete folder
Go to Regedit and delete it there.
