It was almost good to read some of the other related problems people have been experiencing lately. It seems to me my calls for virus/spyware problems are way down from this time last year. Am I the only one to experience that?

I don't know. At least for me, it is too early to tell. Because I work in the higher education sector, things change rather quickly. I have however noticed a rash of similar hijacks on some PCs.

Maybe the virus/spyware writers have been working on things for Vista?

Ive hear this said as well, if true good.
But the thing is not to get complacent.

I'd like to share your optimism, but the only thing I've notices is a change on the tecniques used. Some years ago, a lot of programmers would probe their abilities by programming malicious code, they would make spyware that was spectacular and everyone would notice it.

Nowadays, malicious code does its work silently, and the goal is not community recongnition but money. Spam, phising, account stealing ...

I don't think there's less spyware, I just think it makes less noise.

Cheers,
Dian

I think a lot of people got new computers at Christmas, that could be what it is.

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.
