I'm trying to get a jump on SQL Server by installing MSDE on two of my computers. At work I was able to install MSDE with no problem and when I opened NorthwindCS, everything ran fine. I didn't encounter any problems installing MSDE on my home machine (same OS, same version of Office) but I can't get the NorthwindCS to connect (which means I have no tables to work with). I can't figure what the issues are so I'm not sure what question to ask but if anyone has any suggestions or can point me towards any info that might help I would really appreciate it. I know I can produce an adp file because I was able to create a new project, but having the Northwind sample to work with would be the best place for me to start.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Connect an Access project to a Microsoft SQL Server database

You can connect a Microsoft Access project to a Microsoft SQL Server 6.5, Microsoft SQL Server 7.0, or Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) database. If the Access project is already connected to a Microsoft SQL Server database, you can change that connection.

Open the Access project that you want to connect to a Microsoft SQL Server database.

On the File menu, click Connection.

On the Connection tab in the Data Link Properties dialog box, enter a server name and the information necessary to log on to the server, and then select the database on the server. For additional information, click Help in the Data Link Properties dialog box.
Note If you are using MSDE on a personal computer, the default server name is the name of your computer, and the default logon ID is sa.

---------------------------------------------------
This works even when the database window title bar indicates "(disconnected)"

If you have been playing around with osql, and given sa a password, you must enter it in the connect dialog box.

Oh Yeah!
You'll probably have to hold down the Shift key to bypass the start-up module to be able to see the default menus.

This works from the most-recently-used list or from a shortcut.

Thanks very much for the info. I will look it over and see where I get.
