I want to creats a custom report by starting with the module that should be automatically created when I create a normal report in Access. At least this was true for Access 97. I am now trying this in Access 2003 and I can't find any modules after creating a report. I have Googled for quite a while without finding what I am missing. Any help would be appreciated.

Either create an event procedure, or select the report's "Has Module" property and select "Yes".

Thanks.

I was expecting to get all the code for the report but I guess I don't need that. I want to allow the user to set data for a filter and I guess that can be done in some event like "On Open".

I think you are using incorrect terminology. There is only one module associated with a form or report and this is the form's/report's class module. Within this module you can have "Event Procedures", "Functions", and general " Procedures / sub routines".
So I think you are trying to say that you did not see any generated event procedures when you created the report, and you will not. The module is empty until you start coding. I think you question is
"How do you create a pop up form to set the filter for a report?" If that is the question, provide more details.

I think my terminology is consistent with your answer. I was a little confused by a statement in book I taught by several years ago. I was expecting some kind of module to show up when I created a report.
I can understand now that the actual report code is in a component (object) that I probably don't need to see since I have access to all the properties of my report.
Just asking my first question and getting your answer has cleared up my thinking and my memory. I realized that I can accomplish my original goal of a simple date range specification by a user with just normal event code. I think I know how to do that even if the objects available are a little different than the Delphi components that I am more familiar with. If I have further questions I will be back.

Thanks,

Paul
