Getting Mail from Remote Site from Exchange Server 2K 1

I've been trying to locate information on how to use Outlook client from a remote site to get email and shared calendars from my LAN. Can anyone direct me on how to do this or send me to a good site that has information on it.
I've been searching for a while now and not turning anything up. Thanks.
