Getting little shield Icon on other Icons?

It means you need admin rights to run them, so they'll (usually) bring up a UAC prompt.

That looks like a game - if you're having trouble with it you may have to right-click the shortcut and edit its properties, setting the compatibility mode to an earlier version of Windows. Best thing to do is Google the game's name plus "windows 7" and see what other people have done to get things working.

They are associated with UAC (User Acccount Control)apparently... a quick browse in Google will show you that there are many out there with this issue. One of the many links...

Looks like it's either easy to fix by turning off UAC or... a bit of a pain.

I run Win7 with UAC turned off and have not seen this problem. At work at moment (with good old XP) so can't try anything. Hope the above helps a little though.

I wouldn't recommend turning UAC off, it severely reduces the security of your PC. Under Vista UAC was a pain, under Windows 7 you barely notice it.

Sorry, as nelveticus says.... I wouldn't recommend turning off UAC, I was just stating why I may not have seen this... my bad.

Hi

Thanks for the info.
I was just curious it is't really a problem.

The Icon I showed is for WOW.
Most of them on programs like Malwarebytes, Restore Point Creator, Defraggler etc. which makes sense.
