Has anybody had any success in loading Leopard onto Virtual PC on an XP machine?
Can it be done?

Regards
Max

I'm not sure if it can be done, and it is against OS X EULA to install it on non-apple hardware

ok thanks

I was going to post OSX86, but wasn't sure if I should. You can run OS X on non apple hardware _IF_ you are a member of the apple development community (paid subscription required)

I posted it as I consider the EULA term requiring Apple Hardware to be bogus; merely preventing the Help desk from being swamped with calls from people with "Hackintosh" compatibility problems.

If max8699 wants to experiment, OSX86 is a great place to start; if he wants stability, best cough up for a Mac - refurbed minis are a cheap starting point. I do wonder what Apple lawyers make of people installing OS X on the Apple TVs; I'm sure they're the only people at Apple likely to be bothered by such.

If your concern is that the copy of OS X used might be pirated, then it's hard to see how one can offer *any* help on *any* software topic, since all files can be copied. However, the RF button can assist the puritanical outlook... ; )

soi la, soi carré

Yes we were just going to experiment to a. find out if you can do it (a fellow mac enthusiast said that we couldn't do it) and b. have a play with leopard.
Did read about the Hack on a google search might have a look at that.

At the moment there aren't any working Leopard installs that work on either VMware or VPC (trust me, I have tried a lot of them).

Of the different flavours out there, the Kalyway and iAtkos flavours are about the best (10.5.2). The reason for going for one of these two is that they both support Intel and AMD cpu's as well as ATI and Nvidia cards (something that a Vanilla DVD won't).

FYI I had 10.5.1 working just fine on a Lenovo laptop, it even received updates from Apple (10.5.2 wasn't out at the time).

I really love the way Leopard works and am considering a full blown Mac quite soon.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

$599 for a brand-new Mac Mini. That's cheap.
Or cruise around eBay for a used one.

All you'd need is a USB keyboard & mouse, and an ordinary XGA monitor.
