I am having alot of trouble finding the directory mailbox in the AA. I need to get into the menu definitions. A few months ago, i made a voice mail there listing all of our employees, the problem is that we have new employees now, and i need to add them to the list. Does anyone have a step by step procedure. I tried for an hour, and it seems I am going in circles. I figured this out one time before, but do not recall the details. i go into 9997, then password, then 9. then go into the authorized users menu. 1,3 then it asked about day, night submenu. None of them have what I am looking for. When users call in, it says for a listing of all employees press (1), and that that is where the message that i need to change is.

Thanks!

ok i hit 9997, then i hit 3, then 3 again. for the sub menu. To create the menu press 4. Enter menu number 1. Then it keeps asking for a selector code. I just want to leave a message in this menu. Help. I deleted the menu, but now I want to create it again. When users call my main number, then they hit 3, and this announcement is played. Now it is deleted (i deleted it to try to make a new one) and there is no replacement! Help :(

by the way, i have a Merlin Legend System.

I went in and I deleted the menu, now I try to make a new menu, and it will not let me.

actually, I made a menu somehow. I got it to record. But when users dial in and press 3, its saying "this feature is disabled".

Go into the AA 9997, PW, dial 9 for admin menu, select 3 for AA, select 1 for day menu, select option change menu, select change selector code. At this point you will enter a code from 1 thru 9. Your choices will be- Play an announcemnt, transfer to an extension, direct extension transfer or unused. Make sure that the selector code(s) that correspond to your extension numbers are set for direct extension transfer or outside callers won't be able to dial your extensions directly.

It sounds as if you had selector code 1 assigned to an announcement, if you haven't changed selector code 1, it will tell you which announcement number is assigned, if you have erased or changed it, you will have to create a new announcement or find the original one. Lets presume its announcement 1. For selector code one, choose the option to Play an announcemnt, and then enter 1 for the announcemnt.

At this point, I will strongly caution you to listen "VERY CAREFULLY" to the instructions. Particularly after finishing your selector codes, she will say something on the order of to "use the current settings and save all changes...hit # (or *#, I'm not sure which) if you omit this step, nothing you've done will take effect.

Next, from the main menu, select 3 for AA again, but this time wait for the Announcement code (4 maybe) select 1 for Play announcement, select 1 for announcement 1 and see if this plays your directory, if not hit *# and enter 2 for announcemnt 2 and so on until you find your announcement. If it turns out that your directory is not announcemnet 1, make sure you correct selector code 1 to reflect the correct announcemnet number.

Sorry to be so sketchy about the numbers to dial, but I normally don't deal with voice mail, but this and the voice-mail 'lady' should get you going.

By the way, I believe if you instruct your callers in the main greeting to 'press *2 for a directory of employees by first (last) name' they will be directed to the VM's directory, saving you the trouble of having to update an announcement.

Good luck.
