Hello,
I am experiencing an issue where some Internet sites are being resolved to an incorrect IP address, always 216.52.102.129, on my ISA server.
The problem first was reported when a user tried to go a particular website but couldn't. I pinged that website (happenned to be Netzero) from my workstation and received the report that the destination was unreachable and it gave me the address I listed above. At the time, I thought that there was a routing problem to Netzero, but outside my network (tracert showed that). I was able to open other websites such as Yahoo with no trouble.
A little while later, some other people began reporting the same issue with some other sites. At that point I noticed that the sites were being resolved to the same IP addresses. I switched my external NIC to use a different DNS server thinking my ISPs server was faulty. I rebooted the server to start fresh and it seemed to clear up the issue, but it did not.
It kept happening and I found that if I restarted the DNS Client service (on the ISA server) and then the ISA services, a website that was being resolved incorrectly will then be resolved correctly and will be accessible to all.
I'm at a loss here as I can not find any rhyme or reason for this. I hope that someone can help point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.
