I could SWEAR I knew how to do this! I thought to get, for example, and accent over an e, you hit option-e, then e again, which then typed a character w/ the added accent. But it isn't working--when I do that, I get ´e instead! (I just noticed it works here when typing it in!) How do I get this to work....I have a big project in Spanish & I NEED to get this ironed out!!! Help!

If you are using a Mac then that is correct... hold down and don't let go of the option key and press the e key. Then let go of the option key and hit the e key again.

If this is not working for some strange reason go to the Apple at the top left of the screen, find key caps, select any 'normal' font, click the é character with the mouse. It will appear in the KeyCaps window. Copy and paste it into document.

If you are using a PC then hold down the ALT key, don't let go, and press 0 2 3 3 on the numeric keypad.

Sorted! - é

If all the above fails place the cursor between the two characters (as per your example) and kern the e underneath the accent. It will probably need about -50 or so. This will look exactly the same but will just be two characters instead of one.

Also if you're on a Mac check your keyboard control panel hasn;t thrown a wobbly.
