I have a Windows XP machine running Office 2000. When I am in Excel (new workbook) and select Data\Get External Data\New Database Query it takes around 2 minutes and then the msqry32.exe program shows up???? I want the Choose Data Source window to open so I can select an ODBC source connected to my SQL 2005 database. I have no problem accessing the ODBC source from MS Access. Any ideas what's wrong? I've even tried re-installing Office a couple of times.

No "HOW TO: Use an Excel Data Source for Mail Merge in Word 2000" nothing to do with Mail Merge or Word. Just trying to connect, via ODBC, to a Database.

Do you have the ODBC add-in installed? I don't believe this is a native feature of Excel even today, let alone 2000. I could be wrong.
