Getting Error when trying to login to Sourcesafe

Hi
Our Administrator left some months ago and somebody else has been using his machine to get into Sourcesafe to retrieve his projects but all of a sudden he cannot log in anymore. When he tries to log in he gets the following message
"Unable to open user login file\\My Server\Development\My Folder\Software\data\loggedin\Admin.log"

I have tried going to the relevant directory but I cannot find any files in that directory at all.

I have read the help file for this message and made sure that he has write access to the Visual Studio directory on his machine, I have also tried to go into Visual Sourcesafe 6.0 Admin to see if I can try and change any settings but as soon as I try to open it it tells me that it needs to shut and that I should notify Microsoft.

Can anything be done to get me in to Sourcesafe as we have some very important files that we need to get to urgently.

Hi Thermalman,

You need to do the following:
1. Get on the computer where Source Safe is located.
2. In the root path of the source safe directory. (e.g. G:\UHT-SSDB) right
click and select properties.
3. Select the Security Tab
4. Make sure the user has read and write access to this folder and all sub
folders and files within the folder.

If this is on a share you will also need to do the following:
1. After you are done on the security Tab from the steps above, select the
Sharing Tab.
2. Click the Permissions button.
3. Give the user permissions to this share.

Instead of giving permissions to individual users you can also give it to
groups and make sure all of your source safe users are in that group.
