Getting error running.PHP file even though Apache Server is running

Can someone please help me?
I am getting error 404 trying to run a simple .php file. I tried everything but it doesn't work. My OS is XP, I installed PHP 5.0 and installed Apache server. Looks like Apache is running ok but it can't incorporate .php file. Any idea??
