GETTING CORRECT SORT WITH SUMS

Two report problems.

(1) I have 4 people who record incoming mail counts daily by category and enter on a form. One of my reports is a daily report by date by category. Because 4 people enter, the current report could show the same date 4 times with each persons entry. What I am trying to do is only have each date (day) show once where each cateogy will also so one some total (from each of the 4 possible entries). I know this is probably simple, but my attempts have failed.

(2) Also, I only want to show the sum total of all categories for each date (day)and right now each line shows a sum of all the totals in the report for all dates. Again, probably simple, but I am missing something.

Look in the properties of the your fields for a "Hide Duplicates", set it to "Yes".

For your second question, Go to View --> Sorting & Grouping. Insert Category (if not already there) and Select "Group Footer" to 'Yes'. Once done, insert some fields into this:

Your field control source would look something like this:

Sum([CategoryValue])

[CategoryValue] may be derived from a table or taken from a field in your report.

Thanks so much for your help, it did exactly what it was suppose to. Each time I contact this forum, I learn that much more.

What I havn't quite figured out is how to rate the responses. You have helped me in the past but I don't quite know where to click to give the responses a rating.
