I know that OTM can get data remotely from any Meridian 1 on the LAN/WAN. However I don't want to go through the expense of purchasing OTM. I would like to access the data remotely and use basic call accounting software to manipulate the data. I would rather not use OTM.

I understand there is an interface but I don't know how to set it up.

This is an Opt 11c? what rls? you will also need to see if it has the dba package on it.you will need a transceiver and a NTDK27 cable.

Keep going vztech. Are you suggesting that it is just a matter of stting up a pty as the destination for CDR data rather than a serial port?

Yes Macman11 :) I have never tried setting it up without OTM on the other end but the cdr should flow across the network to a pc with procomm or hyperterm on it.

Yes, it is an Option 11c rls. 23. It does have a DBA package and we inherited it from a company that did have MAT/OTM on it but we did not purchase the license.

I have done some research but there is very little on the steps (if possible) to get CDR to deliver though hyperterminal or procomm.

Has anyone else ever tried this?

I use a serial port connect to a term server through a buffer box. Most 3rd party call accounting apps can handle this. I use this on 32 sites with 0 problems

Ok first of all:

You cannot get CDR info over the network like you do with a normal TTY.

Second:

ProComm and HyperTerminal do not support the protocol used by the meridian to connect to it using ethernet/pty

If you want to connect to the meridian using ethernet, you must know PDT, because when you connect to the meridian using ethernet, you go straight into PDT.

So, if you don't know PDT, don't mess with 3rd party ethernet software to connect to the meridian via ethernet.

If you do know PDT, enable the CDR buffer in LD 117, set DBI to yes in the CDR data block and search the /u drive for the date.CDR file, and retrieve it using the send command. That's the raw cdr data.

unless I missed the point of the question, you can do this without accessing the switch through PDT. A termserver, Lantronix & Digi to name 2, will allow you to connect to serial ports of the Switch through ethernet. To collect CDR data, most would normally use a 3rd party billing application to process the data, but you could capture it in PROCOMM if you were that desperate. I use a buffer box to store the call data so that if the IP connection drops out I don't loose anything
