I have a problem and need help.

I created a database 2 years ago for someone and made it so that a switchboard opened and custom menus appear.

The problem is now they want changes made and I'm unsure as to why I can't get back to the normal view. I have held down F8 but that does not work properly. I am unable to get to the standard menu so I can relink tables or make any changes.

Any suggestions?

Hi there,

Is is possible you mean F11 which brings up the database window?

Or maybe try holding down SHIFT as you double click the file to open it.

Post back if neither of these is any help.

Peter,

F11 worked, but how do I get it so I can see the normal menus and toolbars. My menu only shows File, Window and Help?

Peter,

I just realized that I need to get back to the Tools, Startup menu so I can remove the custom menus. Or at least that is what I think the problem is.

I guess in the future I need to think of this first and have users sign in and me sign in so I can see it all and make changes.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to do this? As you can see I'm somewhat new at this and I guess not very good, yet.

Hi Sami,

The only way I know of is to bypass the Startup options by holding down the shift key while you open the database (not after it's open.)

This should offer you the normal menu option/s.

Another (easy) approach is to create a new database and import all the existing objects to it. Thus assuring your menu access.

Good luck.

Peter
