Getting a paramatized URL to appear static

I believe this is possible but i have no idea how to actually do it. I would like a database retrieved page such as:

into this:


I do not want to use mod_rewrite so I am hoping to achieve this through php and mysql only. I figured that the pages would either be created once entered into the database into static html pages that are named from the database, but I also believe there is a way to do this sort of thing without even creating static pages...

Anyone out there accomplish this?

see fpassthru , open a stream from the target url and echo the contents.

its incredibly straightforward *but* you need to rewrite any links to images / pages.
