getting a macintosh to work wirelessly with a WRT54G

hello i am running into some issues here. I am trying to connect my mac wirelessly to my linksys router wrt54g. I have a usb wireless adapter hooked to the mac but i can't get it to work.

i have mac filterning on the router and have included the mac address of the wireless adapter in there but the wep encryption is 64 bit, 10 digits but the option for the mac only shows a 40 bit, 10 digits option and i can't seem to get it connected. any help is appreciated. thanks.
