a customer has fiber that was installed 15 years ago and believe it's multi-mode. It's marked 62.5/125. They want to be able to have a 10 gig backbone without replacing the fiber. Can you get 10 gig thru multi-mode or only single mode.

Here is an example of a LRM module that can go 722 feet on multimode 6.25 cable.

it uses two pair to get 10 gig

Here is one that uses a single pair but only goes 108 feet in 62.5 Multimode cable.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

10GE does work with both SMF and MFF. An OTDR will measure the cable and the results can help determine if the cable is suitable for the given application.
