Hi there.
I am facing an issue that whilst testing in Flash all works well, but when published my movie doesn't behave.

I am trying to load pictures into my flash movie. No problem at all. It loads local pictures and also those from my site.

For the local pictures the getBytesTotal is working great.
For the once I load from my site it simply doesn't get the total size. It stays 0, no matter how long I tell it to wait and long after the actual picture has been loaded.

How can I fix this? It is driving me nuts!

Cheers

Thing is, it shouldn't be working locally, you shoudn't see the preloader in action since the pictures are there on your drive, instantly available...

In any case, with the info provided, and assuming you've uploaded the pictures to your server, that all files are in the same folder, I can't really say what's going on without seeing some code and/or better, seeing your .fla.
Can you post a link to it?

Hi, and thanks for your reply.
I have posted my .fla on The swf movie is also there under the same name and images are in a sub dir /img.

I will briefly describe what I have been trying to do these last couple of days.

I am trying to load a bunch of jpgs into the movie using a simply counter (i). The jpgs are named 'picture'+i+'jpg'.
So every time the i increases it will load a new picture.

For this I used the Loader component of flash (maybe the issue is there and perhaps using a movieclip is better).

Whe a picture is fully loaded I want to resize it and position it.

The objective is to create a kind of film strip.
The code in the .fla only loads the pictures as the rest of the original code will only add confusion. I have inserted some text fields to actively display the total number of bytes of the picture and the loaded number of bytes and which picture (calling te instance name of the Loader instance).

Oh, I need to mention that once the images are cached it suddenly works fine. And it does load the images anyway, just cant seem to get hold of their properties suchs as getBytesLoaded() etc.

Hope you can help... cause it is driving me nuts :)

Cheers

It seems that my issue is slightly complicated. Anyway I think it was all to do with the Loader component. Wouldn't be the first time that some things work perfectly well in the sandbox and break in real life.

For all that are trying to create a film strip, or film roll effect with flash I advise having a look at
I seldom see such well documented tutorials. So clearly explained... It worked wonders for me.. Sorry, but the side is not yet up to look at the outcome, but maybe in about 2 weeks after me posting this go to where I used it for a photo album.

If you want to extend a bit on the tutorial, please feel free to post a reply here.
