I prefer the first one.
But this is because the second one looks a little over complex. I think this may just be because it's not "framed" so to speak and so the content "leaks" out of the page area.

Give it some kind of edge or border to contain it and I think number 2 may be nicer.

I would say the second simply because I like the use of white as opposed to the use of gray within the content area...

v2 has a more appealing colour scheme - v1 is a bit dark. But v2 looks like it's falling to pieces - the right hand side is weak and doesn't seem to connect to the rest

I like the first one, v2 looks a bit scrappy with nothing to tie those disparate elements together. I think v2 could also break quite badly if the user resizes the text.

I think you'd need to go with a paler green for v1, either for the whole page or the block that has the main content (We know how to market your business...). The current one is a bit low in contrast between text and background.

v.1 has a better structure and composition but as others have already pointed out it's way too dark. I would also suggest to "warm up" the green color. Aslo the text "WE KNOW" in my opinion looks ... err a bit annoying partly because of the font you use. It feels too agressive. I would use some more decorative font that would soften up the whole image. As an analogy: it is not necessary to shout "we know" because I might want to cover my ears. :)

Thanks for all the help guys and it was a great help. Updates on v1 we changed the left copy area to white with a darker text for one mock up and for a another we changed the copy area to a darker green to give it some more contrast.

V2 we added the right bar to close off the design.

I posted on a few boards I hang out at and it's pretty much half and half.

Most of you agreed that v1 was a good layout but was a tad to dark, and v2 was nice and clean, but maybe some issues maintaining integrity when upsizing textual elements (but we could work those out), etc..

So with all your comments we made a couple revisions to both and will now present them to the boss man for him to choose.

I appreciate everyone's comments.
