get ride of "auto square"...

I have a client on the network that in Adobe Pagemaker, when the rectangle tool is used it automatically makes a sqaure. How do I get this feature to be "turned off?" I am stumped by this... any help would be appreciated.

Nope.... I checked on that... the shift key is not stuck or locked on...
