Get rid of the / in emails 2

HI everyone,

I have a form on a website that allows the user to send comments to a pre determined email address. The problem i cant seem to get around is when the user uses quotes "" in their email.

The email comes to me formatted like:

/"text"/

I have looked at php.net and reviewed a couple of manuals I own. I know why the / is showing up but I dont know how to make it stop when sending the email.

any thoughts or suggestions?

This from the PHP online manual entry for addslashes():

The PHP directive magic_quotes_gpc is on by default, and it essentially runs addslashes() on all GET, POST, and COOKIE data.
