Hi folks.
How are you doing today?

This is my issue; I have 2 boxes which have primary and secondary DNS's, and i want to copy evrything from primary to secondary and after that, get down the primary DNS, and the secondary dns has to noe as a primary DNS.

If you guys have any clue in order to perform this task, i will appreciate it.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

When you say "everything" do you just mean within DNS?

If so you can right click on the secondary DNS server and select Transfer from Master. This will then copy all hosts to it.

You can then change your DHCP scope so that the secondary becomes primary and then your ready to down the primary server. However please bear in mind you are then only running 1 DNS server which is never good practice.

Thanks.

Last step must be to change zone type from secondary to master.
