get rid of parent tabs from site?

I think I clicked the wrong thing when setting up my site. Now I see all the other site tabs within my parent site, and I don't want to see those tabs. Is there a way to go back in and change that setting so I don't see the other site tabs at the top of the page?

are you using WSS or MOSS? You should be able to go into site settings > navigation and work with your nav settings.
