How can I stop the banner page from printing? All the help I've seen so far tells me to allow users to overwrite banners. However, there is no option to do this when I add a Novell print queue. I think the only type of printer that had this option was a local printer. How can I get around this?

Thanks for your help

Not sure of how you are doing this , but host systems have banners=1 as default in /etc/default/lpd. I'm sure network aware reply will be up shortly. Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply.

Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

Banners, whether network or host, are much more complicated than the /etc/default/lpd

That file only works if the rest of the printing system pays any attention to it. Some of the interface scripts do, and some don't. Host or Enterprise.

I don't have any Novell anywhere so have never used that setup, so can't offer anymore than that. Could be the Novell side that's doing it.

how did you add a novell printer in SCO?
I assume that you end up with a local printing que pointing to the novell machine?

have you tried /usr/lib/lpadmin -p [que] -onobanner ?

I'm a novice to the whole unix-area so my answers are really questions for myself. Perhaps they can give som hints though. /Sören

First of all ,log into Novell server from DOS/Windows workstation.Fire a print to the queue that you have added to SCO server.Check whether you get banner or not? If yes it is generated, it is done by Novell server.
To remove this, use NWADMIN utility from windows after logging in as Admin (assuming Novell 4.xx or above) to disable the banner.

If the banner is not generated in the test print, you need to disable the same at SCO server.
