get rid of annoying messanger popups

By messenger popups do you mean MSN Messenger or winpopup (net send .....), as the latter can simply be prevented by stopping the messenger service.

winpopup, but if you disable it in the services when rebooted its active again.
 
If you want it to be disabled each time you reboot...simply go to your services manager and set the startup property of the service in question to manual.....no more service at startup. That is true biggiedave... I wasn't trying to belittle your post, I just like to point out the &quot;under-lying&quot; techniques that gui tools hide so well.

You can find this key in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Messenger
under the key start which u will find it in the right side :
it may take these values ( 1 for force normal , 2 automatic , 3 manual , 4 disable )
so if u make it with value 4 , It will disable the service ..
