Hi,

I run Windows XP, Creative Suite CS2. I received a pdf that I need to comment on then return. I can open Adobe reader, but I can't open Acrobat Pro. I've tried my desktop shortcut, start-menu pinned program name, and Explore/Program Files/... /Acrobat.exe. I have saved the pdf as a copy on my hard drive, but when I try to open it, only Reader opens.

Thanks in advance,

Cherishwit

The pdf is read by your computer as a Reader, not Acrobat, doc.

Launch Acrobat pro and use the Open command on the file menu to open the problem pdf, then Save As and it should reopen in pro.

To get all pdfs to open in Acrobat pro, you'll have to set your computer to use pra as the default for all pdfs. Since I use mac, I don't know how to do that on pc. Maybe someone will come along with that answer or you can ask that particlular question in a new thread.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

Thank you for your response. The problem seems to reside in the fact that, no matter what strategy I select, I can't open Acrobat Pro. At the suggestion of another person, I uninstalled Reader, but it evidently didn't stay uninstalled.

Any other suggestions?

Gratefully,

I had the same problem. If you read the documentation, you'll find that when you install Acrobat Professional, you're supposed to Uninstall Reader. Remove it. You'll always be able to read PDF files in Professional, you don't need Reader!
