Get memory HW info on Solaris

Hi there,

I'm looking for a way to collect hardware information on the type and specs of installed memory modules, on a Solaris 10 box. None of the following can accomplish that: prtdiag, prtconf, psrinfo.

Anyone knows of a good tool for that purpose?

I usually try memconf, which is available in source or from sunfreeware.

Thanx for help, I've just downloaded memconf from Sunfreeware and tried it. Alas, although it's a nice little tool, it doesn't get any hardware info (i.e. vendor, product codes, labels/names etc.) except the CPU and memory capacity.

On the other hand, I wonder if anything of this sort exists at all.

If you are looking for things like the size and quantity of the memory modules, [tt]prtdiag[/tt] can give you that. If you are looking for things like the speed of the chips, I don't think anything can give that to you. At least I've never seen it.

You can get the memory specs that the machine requires from Sun. But that doesn't indicate what you actually have installed. You can open the box up and jot down the part numbers. That will let you look up exactly what's installed.

Well, that's what I did, and it's an obvious solution: I took the memory modules out and noted down their codes. But I thought it would be possible to actually get that info without opening up the box. Just like with "iostat -En", which gives you HDD model (e.g. ST380215A). Apparently, then, memory modules aren't as easily indetifiable as hard disks. Still, such a capability (i.e. to be able to identify ALL hw parts) would be very nice to have!

You can use a web based application which does that, it is called dimstat.
