Hi,

I need to write a little script to get the following information, or any parts thereof:

Connected speed of the local area netwok connection
external IP address
who is lookup on the External IP

all exported to a txt file, or sent to an email address.

Any help, however small would be greatly appreciated, at this point I'm happy to admit that im clueless.

Regards

My inventory script grabs the NIC speed using WMI. Download a copy of Scriptomatic from the Microsoft.com web site for free WMI sample code.

I also grab the external IP. The way I did that was I created a publicly accessible web page that just displays the IP address (similar to whatismyip.com). I then script an InternetExplorer application and navigate tot hat page and check InnerHTML to get the public IP address.

I suppose you could do the same with the WHOIS lookup, though you will need to script together the URL to navigate to.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
