My trusty Toshiba Tecra 8100 has expired eventually! It is apparently the processor as I tried it with a ew hard disk and it still refuses to boot up - from disk, cd-rom or diskette - not even the Toshiba logo!

My challenge is to be able to extract the data from the hard disk onto my new laptop. Is it possible to connect the disk drive directly similar to the way it can be done on a PC? using the Firewire port?

Any suggestions much appreciated...

Thanx

Probable best bet is to get a 2.5 to 3.5 conversion kit and put it in a desktop type machine then network the data across.
Or ghost the drive onto a CD and use it in the new laptop.

Thanks for this E.

I have ordered a 2.5 to 3.5 conversion kit.

I was uncertain of your recommendation to ghost the drive to CD - with my laptop being down I am unable to do that - unless you meant ghost it from the PC?

Thanks again

Richard

Probably would do a data CD from the desktop rather than the ghost. If you deal with ghost you may blow the OS out of the water.
