We have Gentran:Server version 2.1.1, service pack 1 installed on our primary controller and a client station. We are trying to install the software on additional client stations. However, when we install the software using the 2.1.1 installation CD, it tells us that "There is an error obtaining the DSN for your system. Make sure that the Primary Controller is using Gentran:Server version 2.1". It seems that Gentran does not recognize our controller unless the version we are installing on the client is the same version as our server. The service pack CD only upgrades the software and does not do a full install. Is there any way we can join our Gentran server after we have installed the service pack on our client WITHOUT USING THE INSTALLATION CD to specify which server/system we want to join? Is there any way to join a Gentran server system other than using the CD?

The id that you are logged onto the client machine Does not have permission to read the registry key on the Gentran Server machine to obtain the name of the DSN. Use an id that has local admin rights on the Server machine when installing the client or manually added your to have at least read permissions on the Hkey_Local machine>software>SterlingCommerce>Gentran keys David
